Prionops plumatus
White-crested Helmetshrike
A gregarious, black-and-white helmetshrike (also known as White Helmetshrike) of dry and moist savanna, dry shrubland, and open woodland, found in The Gambia and widely across sub-Saharan Africa. Travels in small, constantly moving parties that forage together through foliage and on the ground.

Identification
Told by its erect whitish forecrown and grey hindcrown, black ear coverts, white collar, black upperparts with a white wing bar, and white underparts; the piercing yellow eye with a yellow eye-wattle and pink legs are also diagnostic. A varied vocal repertoire of rattles, clicks, and chattering helps locate foraging parties.
