Anthreptes gabonicus
Mangrove Sunbird
Sunbirds (Nectariniidae)Least Concern
Also known as the Mouse-brown Sunbird, this small, plain grey-brown sunbird (males show a small iridescent throat patch) is a mangrove specialist. Its range runs along the coast from Senegal to northwestern Angola, and it is specifically listed among Gambia's bird species — look for it in mangrove creeks and estuarine vegetation along the River Gambia.

Identification
Overall drab mouse-brown plumage separates it from the more colourful green-headed sunbirds; males have a small, easily-missed glossy throat patch. Strong habitat association with mangroves is itself a useful clue.
